Cheshire’s Peak District has many working museums, with carefully preserved and restored original machinery and buildings that bring alive the stories of the people whose lives were shaped by industry. These museums cover everything from historic houses, the local textile industry, a collection of combustion engines, ancient market towns and canals. Visitors can also call at Jodrell Bank to view the unique Lovell Telescope, the 3D theatre or stroll through the 35 acre Arboretum with national collections of Malus and Sorbus. Also visit one of the stunning, independent galleries specialising in contemporary art, prints and paintings.
