Celebrate the 200th anniversary of Elizabeth Gaskell, the world famous author, renowned for North and South and Wives and Daughters. She also created Cranford, based on the market town of Knutsford, where she was born and now familiar to many through the recent BBC adaptation of her work.
Her bi-centenary is celebrated through a year-long programme of events in Knutsford and Manchester, where she spent her married life.
Events include a range of exhibitions and performances through to a flower festival and even The Knutsford Great Race - a spectacular penny farthing race which takes place in September.
